Police have recovered 17 mobile phones and arrested two suspects in an operation targeting the suspected handling and resale of stolen electronics in Kiamaiko, Starehe sub-county.
Officers from Huruma Sub-County conducted the operation on Monday, October 5, targeting individuals suspected of receiving and trading in stolen electronic devices.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the recovered phones included seven Tecno handsets, one Redmi 15C, one Realme Note, one Oppo 3X and one Infinix phone.
The two suspects were arrested during the operation and taken to Huruma Police Station, where they were placed in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.
Police said the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb phone snatching and the illegal trade in stolen electronic devices in Nairobi.
“The National Police Service commends officers involved for swift action,” the service said, adding that operations targeting such crimes would continue.
The recovered phones will be examined to establish their ownership and determine whether they are linked to reported cases of theft or phone snatching.
Police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide information that could help identify people involved in the theft and resale of mobile phones.
Members of the public can report suspected criminal activity to the nearest police station or through the toll-free emergency numbers 999 and 911.
Information can also be shared with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations through the toll-free #Fichua kwa DCI line 0800722 203 or WhatsApp number 0757 000 000.
Police said the operation forms part of wider efforts to disrupt networks involved in the theft, handling and resale of electronic devices across Nairobi and other parts of the country.
