Civil society groups and community forest defenders are today set to lead a procession from Uhuru Park to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to hand over more than 60,000 petition signatures. The petition calls on the government to urgently curb deforestation and protect the country’s forests. The groups are also demanding an end to destructive projects, enforcement of the logging ban, stronger community participation in forest management, and action against illegal logging and land grabbing.
