The leadership of Turkana County has called for stronger support for survivors of gender-based violence, including free legal aid and economic empowerment programmes for women. Speaking during a meeting with NGEC in Lodwar, the county’s Chief Officer for Gender Evans Lomodei also urged the use of oil revenues to advance gender equality and include refugees and the Ilimanyang community in county programmes. The two sides agreed to strengthen access to justice.
