Environment CS Deborah Barasa says the upcoming Mazingira Day celebrations will focus on restoring entire ecosystems rather than simply planting trees. CS Barasa says forests, wetlands, rivers, lakes, drylands and coastal areas must all be restored to address climate change, food and water insecurity and disaster risks. She says Kenya’s approach must be coordinated across government, with communities playing a central role in protecting and restoring the country’s environment.
