Environment CS Deborah Barasa says the government is shifting its focus from tree planting to ensuring planted trees survive and contribute to ecosystem restoration. Speaking ahead of Mazingira Day, Barasa said the government will use the JazaMiti 2.0 digital platform to track trees planted, their survival, the ecosystems restored and their economic value. She urged Kenyans to nurture trees after planting to ensure restoration delivers lasting environmental benefits.
