Kenyan musician and content creator Stevo Simple Boy has formally announced his intention to enter competitive politics by contesting a parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
The Kibera-raised artist disclosed his political ambitions during a wide-ranging interview with media personality Manuu on The Manuu Show podcast.
Three Nairobi Constituencies Under Consideration
During the interview, Stevo Simple Boy revealed that he is currently assessing three specific electoral areas within Nairobi County. He stated that he is weighing options to vie in Kasarani, Lang'ata, or his former home constituency of Kibra.
Addressing questions regarding political party affiliation, the rapper explained that he has not yet committed to any established political movement. He indicated that contesting as an independent candidate remains a viable path for his parliamentary campaign.
"Chama sijaamua ama ama naweza kuwa independent,” he added.
Early Campaign Mobilisation and Public Support
The artist highlighted that early campaign ground work could commence as soon as next week.He explained that a substantial number of local community members have actively urged him to contest for public office in Nairobi.
Stevo Simple Boy emphasised that the decision stems directly from persistent calls by ordinary citizens asking him to represent them in parliament. He expressed confidence that his grass-roots appeal will resonate with voters across the capital city.
"Next week... but watu wengi nataka nisimame."
Born and raised in the informal settlement of Kibera, Stevo Simple Boy spent his early years attending local church services.
He first earned national recognition through socially conscious music advocating against drug abuse among young people.
Beyond his music career, Stevo Simple Boy manages a digital content hub titled Stevo Simple Boy Creatives, which produces short films and online programming.
Reflecting on his journey, the rapper stated that he views his public stardom as a God-given platform to guide society through positive examples. As part of his future personal plans, he is preparing to acquire land in Oyugis to construct a home for his mother.
