The Teachers Service Commission has dismissed claims of political interference and corruption in the recruitment of teachers. This follow claims by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula in August that some MPs received bulk of teachers’ appointment letters for distribution. TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi clarified that the commission does not issue employment letters to politicians and strictly follows established merit-based procedures. Muturi also said the next teacher recruitment exercise is expected to begin in November.
