Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has received a heartfelt birthday message from his mother, Sandra Abdul Juma, popularly known as Mama Dangote, as he turns a year older.

Mama Dangote celebrated her son on Friday, October 2, sharing a prayer for his life, success, and continued guidance.
In her message, she affectionately referred to Diamond as “Tom Kaka” while asking God to continue directing him towards what is good.
“Mwenyezi Mungu azidi kukuongoza kwa kila kitu chema mwanangu! Akuongezee riziki na baraka tele Kichwa wangu. Jua, tu mama yako nakupenda zaidi ya sana. Happy birthday, Tom Kaka,” she wrote.
The message comes at a time when Diamond has been at the centre of conversations surrounding his recent move into gospel music.

Mama Dangote’s message was more than a simple birthday wish, with the singer’s mother specifically praying for God’s guidance and blessings over his life.
Diamond responded to the message with an equally emotional tribute, thanking his mother for giving birth to him and raising him.
“Nakupenda Zaidi Mama yangu, nakupenda sana…Asante kwa kunizaa na Kunilea,” Diamond said.
The singer then returned the prayer, asking God to grant his mother a long life filled with health, happiness, peace, love, and success.

Diamond’s gospel move sparks debate.

The birthday exchange comes days after Diamond released Nikumbuke, a prayer-themed collaboration with Tanzanian gospel singer Joel Lwaga.

The song, released on September 23, brought together Lwaga’s gospel audience and Diamond’s predominantly Bongo Flava and Afropop fanbase.
While the collaboration has attracted listeners, it has also sparked debate within Tanzania’s gospel scene over whether gospel artistes should work with mainstream or secular musicians.
Diamond has defended the decision, explaining that he believes people who need to hear a message should not be excluded from it.
“If you avoid people who already understand, how will others understand?” Diamond said while explaining his reasoning behind the collaboration.
He has also spoken about the influence Lwaga has had on him, recently reading Bible verses publicly during an event celebrating the gospel singer.
