Bar owners have welcomed the fresh vetting of alcohol manufacturers, saying it could help curb counterfeit and illicit alcohol. Bar Owners Association chair Simon Njoroge says the move will not fully address the problem as long as ready-to-drink alcohol remains on the market. Njoroge proposes cutting the number of manufacturers from 42 to 21 and alcohol products from 281 by half.
