MPs have begun debating the Elections (Amendment) Bill as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather pace. The proposed amendments seek to tighten safeguards in the procurement of election technology by requiring the IEBC to ensure suppliers and their associates have not violated procurement laws, committed crimes, breached professional standards or been barred from public procurement in any jurisdiction. The proposals also require election technology to be accessible for scrutiny as provided by law.
