Teacher Cillah has drawn national attention to a Baringo school where pupils study under a tree and inside rusting tin structures.

The educator and content creator posted three photos of Eldepe Comprehensive School on Monday, 28 September. The school is in Marigat Ward, Baringo South.

"The situation is worse than we think!" she wrote.

What the photos show

The first image shows a low shed of corrugated iron sheets. Mud is caked halfway up the walls. Dark doorways and small square openings serve as windows.

The second was taken inside. Pupils sit at rough wooden desks on a bare dirt floor. Light comes through gaps in the walls. A blackboard is fixed to a stone-and-mud partition.

The third shows a whole class on benches beneath a large acacia tree, with a chalkboard propped in the shade.

"2026? Children are studying under a tree?"

Questions on funding

Cillah asked what happens when it rains, when the wind is strong or when the sun beats down. She also questioned why teachers should hold fundraisers to build a school.

She noted that the Teachers Service Commission has posted teachers there, so the government knows the school exists.

"Where does the CDF money go?"

She also asked whether anyone is checking the quality of education on the ground.

What the fund is meant to do

The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocation has risen to Sh61.8 billion. Under the law, 75 per cent is shared equally among constituencies and 25 per cent is distributed by the number of wards. That gives each constituency about Sh151 million under the equal-share formula.

Baringo South has faced other pressures. Authorities have acknowledged that parts of Baringo South and Baringo North have experienced disruptions from banditry.

Kenyans react

Another user, @miss_ngige, wrote: "And someone is preaching about building markets."

@hawah_kone offered support. "You are doing the Lord's work. Keep sharing, keep questioning," the user wrote.

Cillah ended her caption with a plea: "I have so many questions... aki tukue serious!"
