Upesi, a Kenyan outbound money transfer service, is targeting more than one billion shillings in transactions through a zero-fee campaign covering eight international corridors. The campaign runs from September to December 2026, targeting businesses, students, investors and families. Upesi Head of Treasury John Gitau says the initiative seeks to make cross-border payments more affordable as international trade grows. China is projected to account for about 150 million shillings monthly, driven by Kenyan businesses sourcing goods and services there.
