Kenya’s ever-changing music scene took centre stage in Eldoret as Smirnoff Sound Nation made its debut, bringing different generations, genres and musical influences together for one high-energy experience.

From Gengetone and Arbantone to hip-hop, Amapiano, Afrohouse, R&B and Oontz, Kenya’s music culture has continued to evolve — and the new platform is looking to celebrate that diversity under one roof.

Smirnoff officially launched Smirnoff Sound Nation at Tamasha Eldoret, marking the first stop in a nationwide series of music and culture experiences set to travel across different regions of Kenya.

The Eldoret launch gave music lovers an opportunity to discover new sounds, revisit familiar favourites and experience how different genres continue to influence and shape one another.

Popular DJs Gibbz Daqchild, Daffy, Kaytrixx and Kryptic headlined the experience, joined by MC Gogo, delivering a mix of sounds that reflected the diversity of Kenya’s musical landscape.

“Kenyan music has always evolved, and that evolution is part of what makes our culture exciting. Smirnoff Sound Nation celebrates that journey and gives consumers an experience where different sounds, generations and musical influences can come together in one space,” says Veronicah Waweru, Brand and Innovation Manager at East African Breweries Limited (EABL).

Celebrating how Kenya’s music keeps changing

Sound Nation builds on Smirnoff’s Why Change A Good Thing campaign, which explores how culture, music and social experiences can evolve while retaining the energy and connections people already love.

Kenya’s music scene offers a natural reflection of that idea.

Over the years, new genres and influences have continued to emerge, with Gengetone and Arbantone adding new chapters to the country’s soundscape, while Amapiano, Afrohouse and other contemporary sounds continue to influence how Kenyans listen, dance and socialise

Rather than treating these sounds as separate worlds, Sound Nation brings them together in one experience.

Beyond the performances, the Eldoret launch was centred around the shared moments that make music memorable — discovering a new track, hearing an old favourite in a different setting, moving between genres and connecting with other people through music.

Sound Nation heads across Kenya

Eldoret is only the beginning.

Following the launch, Smirnoff Sound Nation is set to travel to the Mountain region, Nairobi, the Lake region and the Coast, with each stop expected to bring its own local character, lineup, energy and sound.

The regional approach is designed to highlight the different musical identities that exist across Kenya while contributing to a broader celebration of the country’s evolving music culture.

For Smirnoff, Sound Nation is ultimately about recognising that music does not stay in one place — it changes with every generation, city, community and social experience.

And as the platform moves beyond Eldoret, Kenya’s diverse sounds will continue taking centre stage.
