President William Ruto has called for a shift in the global narrative on Africa from representation and financing needs to economic power and strategic partnership. Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York, Ruto said Africa’s minerals, agricultural potential, renewable energy and youthful population can strengthen global food security, clean energy and supply chains. He cited the African Continental Free Trade Area and the continent’s 1.5-billion-plus market as foundations for industrialisation and greater participation in global value chains.
