Parliament has directed the government to identify all land at Moi International Airport in Mombasa that has been encroached. The Transport Committee has ordered the Kenya Airports Authority to submit a report naming individuals and companies occupying the affected parcels. The committee says securing the land is necessary for the planned expansion of the airport, which seeks to increase passenger capacity from 2.5 million to 4.5 million annually. KAA says it has faced challenges reclaiming the land, with some cases already in court.
