24-year-old Benny Hinn Walubengo has responded to questions about his age and body size after his appointment as Secretary General of the People’s Party sparked conversations online.
Walubengo found himself at the centre of online discussions, with some social media users expressing disbelief that he is only 24 years old, judging by his large physique and mature appearance.
However, the young politician has maintained that he is indeed 24, dismissing the doubts surrounding his age.
Speaking about the reactions, Walubengo jokingly attributed his body size to his Luhya heritage, suggesting that members of the community are naturally blessed with big bodies.

People’s Party Appointment Ahead of 2027 Elections
Walubengo’s appointment comes as the People’s Party, led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, establishes its leadership structure ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On Tuesday, September 22, Nyoro unveiled the party’s first batch of designated officials, naming Walubengo as Secretary General representing Nairobi County.
Other officials announced included Riziki Makokha as Deputy Party Leader, Samora K’alosi as Chairperson, and Mwanamisi Swaleh as Vice Chairperson.
John Kihiu was named Deputy Secretary General in charge of Administration Affairs, while Mahad Abdi was designated Treasurer and Dr Jane Sibia Organising Secretary.
The appointments followed Nyoro’s move to the People’s Party after leaving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in August.
Nyoro said the party intended to work with other opposition formations while developing what he described as credible policy alternatives for Kenya’s economic revival.
During the announcement, Nyoro specifically highlighted Walubengo’s age, describing the 24-year-old as intelligent and articulate. His appointment has since attracted attention, with online discussions focusing on how someone so young could occupy such a senior party position.

Walubengo Blames His Suit for Making Him Look Older
The newly appointed official also suggested that the suit he wore might have contributed to the perception that he was older than his actual age.
Walubengo further acknowledged that he might need to get a gym trainer to help him lose some weight.
His response came with a humorous touch, as he addressed the questions without appearing to take the online reactions too seriously.
Kenyans React to His Age
His remarks have attracted mixed reactions, with some social media users continuing to joke about his appearance while others came to his defence.
One person jokingly commented, “Bro is 34 😂,” while another questioned whether there were Gen Z members of the Luhya community.
Another user wrote, “Kwani Kuna waluhya Gen Z? 😂”
Others made humorous references to his physique, with one commenter saying he looked like someone who could eat an entire goat alone.
However, some people also defended Walubengo, with one social media user claiming to have studied with him at Daystar University and confirming that he was indeed 24.
Another commenter simply reminded people that age was just a number.
Despite the jokes and questions, Walubengo has stood by his statement, insisting that he is 24 years old.
For now, his appointment and the conversation surrounding his appearance have placed him firmly in the social media spotlight.
