The battle for the Ukombozi name between Governor George Natembeya’s camp and the former Azimio coalition is raising questions over whether the dispute could lock out Senator Edwin Sifuna from the 2027 presidential race. Political analyst Herman Manyora says although Natembeya’s camp is justified in fighting for the name, the dispute risks further dividing the opposition and giving President William Ruto an advantage in the 2027 election.
