Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson has waived approval requirements for minor home repairs, including installing gutters, ahead of the anticipated El Niño rains. Sakaja says the county has deployed more machinery to clear, widen and deepen drainage channels in flood hotspots. He has warned against illegal dumping, saying offenders will face tough action. The county is also preparing evacuation centres and strengthening emergency response systems.
