President William Ruto has called for urgent reforms to the international financial system, warning that debt should not come at the expense of children and their future. Speaking at a UNICEF-convened High-Level Dialogue on Debt in New York, Ruto said debt becomes a children’s rights issue when interest payments reduce investment in education, healthcare, nutrition and social protection. He said Kenya is pursuing responsible fiscal management and stronger domestic resource mobilisation while investing in its people.
