Businessman Oketch Salah has shared images and a video of himself enjoying a relaxed day out with Mama Ida Odinga in Downtown New York.

Salah said the group spent the day walking around the city before visiting Hudson Yards, one of New York's prominent shopping and entertainment destinations, where they took in the sights and architecture.

In one of the photographs, Salah and Mama Ida pose outdoors at Hudson Yards with the distinctive Vessel and The Shed forming the backdrop.

Salah is dressed casually in a matching peach sweat suit and white sneakers, while Mama Ida wears a black jacket and trousers paired with a light blue shirt and patterned blue scarf.

Another image shows Salah posing with a US Secret Service officer near a security checkpoint as he smiles at the camera while flashing a peace sign as the officer stands beside him holding a metal detector wand.

A wider photograph shows Mama Ida at the base of the Vessel with members of her family. She is seen smiling as her  granddaughters stand nearby, one taking a photograph with her phone and another posing alongside her in a casual blue outfit.

In a video he shared, it captured a more informal side of the outing, showing him and Mama Ida walking through the indoor concourses of the shops and restaurants at Hudson Yards.

The pair appear relaxed as they walk and chat through the spacious shopping complex.

Salah said the day ended with dinner with Migori's Min Piny Nyamera and Mama Ida. He was accompanied by his first-born son Abdinoor and third-born daughter Noora, while Mama Ida was with her granddaughter Saphie and personal assistant Shirley.

"I was accompanied by my first-born son Abdinoor, my third-born daughter Noora, Mama Ida’s granddaughter Saphie and Shirley, Mama’s PA,"Salah wrote in the caption accompanying the images and video.

"A wonderful evening of family, friendship and great conversations in New York City."

Mama Ida is in the United States in her capacity as Kenya's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme representing Kenya on environmental matters.

Her presence in New York comes as Kenya's delegation participates in high-level engagements around the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The outing brought Salah and Mama Ida together months after Salah found himself at the centre of a public disagreement with members of the Odinga family over his relationship with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

In January, EALA MP Winnie Odinga disputed Salah's account of his closeness to her father and his claim that he was present during Raila's final moments. Salah rejected her account and maintained that Raila had treated him like a son.

Salah said at the time that he had initially remained silent out of respect for Mama Ida. He later said Raila had referred to him as his adopted son when he was sent to deliver a speech on the former Prime Minister's behalf at the funeral of former Cabinet minister Dalmas Otieno.

The latest images, however, show a much lighter moment, with Salah and Mama Ida enjoying an afternoon around one of New York's best-known modern developments.
