KRA enforcement teams have seized a consignment of 53,000 under-declared smartphones at Eldoret International Airport, averting a potential tax loss of Sh21.5 million. The consignment, intercepted following an intelligence report, was part of consolidated cargo containing shoes, clothing, automotive spare parts, household goods, electronic accessories and other items. Upon conviction for tax evasion, the owners of the consignment face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 10,000 dollars.
