Kenya exports about 467,000 metric tonnes of horticultural produce worth 1.143 billion US dollars annually. Speaking at the East Africa Horticulture Sector Conference in Nairobi, Trade Deputy Director Matthew Komen said the sector remains a major source of foreign exchange and employment, particularly for women and youth. He said the government is working to strengthen horticultural trade by expanding cold-storage facilities, improving electronic cargo tracking and single-window systems, promoting Authorized Economic Operator programmes and enhancing implementation of trade agreements.
