Kenyan gospel musician Audiphaxad Peter Omwaka, known professionally as Guardian Angel, has addressed fans after a two-month hiatus from releasing new music.

Speaking in a video shared on TikTok, the singer responded to questions regarding the whereabouts of gospel artists in the country. He explained that financial necessity led him to focus on farming and commercial investments before returning to the recording studio.

"People have been asking where gospel musicians vanished to, that people are now listening to AI music. Sometimes doing music if you don't have money, you will die, you will suffer,” he addressed.

In the TikTok video, Guardian Angel assured his audience that his break from music was only temporary. He emphasised that his main objective was securing financial stability so he could record and produce without constraints.

“We had to go away a bit looking for some before making a comeback. And now I’m back and you can’t tell that I am a farmer. I am coming back with lots of music linep up in plenty,” he added.

The musician confirmed that he has accumulated a backlog of unreleased tracks.

He revealed plans to shoot a music video for a collaboration with fellow artist Sammy G which was released few days ago.

Funding Music Through Commercial Farming

Guardian Angel stated that pursuing a music career without financial backing causes severe hardship. He noted that artists must generate income from other ventures to sustain their lives and fund their creative work.

Over the past two months, the musician has spent considerable time managing his commercial farming project. Alongside his wife, Esther Musila, he acquired a 20-acre property known as Waingo Farm in Machakos County.

The farm recently produced a reported 350-tonne onion harvest, valued at approximately KSh 17 million. To overcome the semi-arid climate of the region , the singer installed a borehole and drip irrigation systems. The property also features maize fields, traditional vegetable patches, poultry units, and fish ponds.

Agribusiness is part of a broader commercial strategy for the singer. He has established six distinct business ventures, ranging from local retail trading to residential property developments in Nairobi.

Balancing Enterprise and Ministry

Guardian Angel highlighted that commercial farming provides the stability required to navigate fluctuations in the entertainment industry. His farm in Machakos sits roughly 45 minutes from Nairobi, allowing him to monitor daily agricultural operations while maintaining access to recording facilities.
