The Government has positioned the Bachuma National Livestock Quarantine Centre in Taita-Taveta as a gateway to high-value international livestock markets, following its handover to private investor Blue Mountain for commercialisation. Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe said the facility will provide quarantine, inspection and certification services for export livestock, helping Kenya meet international animal-health and food-safety standards. He said the project will create jobs, expand market opportunities and increase incomes for livestock farmers and the local community.
