The AI era must empower nations to shape their own future and not deepen technological dependency, President Ruto has said. Speaking on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Ruto said this requires stronger cooperation to build the infrastructure, skills, research and governance capabilities that no country can secure alone. For Africa, he said, the priority is to capture more of the value created by AI through local resources and talent to build our own capabilities and solutions.
