Mandera County is intensifying preparations for the expected heavy rains, with the Municipality expanding drainage works, clearing waterways and reinforcing vulnerable riverbanks to reduce flash flood risks. Mandera Municipal Manager Motker Noor said early interventions have been prioritised in flood-prone areas, including clearing and desilting culverts and upgrading existing drainage infrastructure. He said the proactive measures will help the town's drainage system cope with increased stormwater, protecting communities and property in areas previously hit by flooding and erosion.
