Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has assured residents that the county is prepared for the anticipated El Niño rains. Speaking at the Machakos County Disaster Operations Centre while opening the Kenya Inter-Agency Rapid Assessment Training, she said the county and its partners have begun preparations to ensure a timely, coordinated response. She urged residents near riverbanks, low-lying areas and known flood corridors to heed official weather advisories, avoid hazardous crossings, and keep children away from swollen rivers.
