Crime scene

Detectives in Eastleigh, Nairobi, are investigating the death of a 19-year-old boy who reportedly collapsed after being struck with an unknown object during a quarrel.

The incident occurred on September 15, 2026, at around 7:10 p.m.

Police said the deceased, identified by the name Zakaria, had been involved in a disagreement with another young man.

During the quarrel, Zakaria was allegedly hit with an unidentified object before collapsing.

He was rushed to Nairobi East Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police visited the scene and found the deceased’s body lying on the rear passenger seat of a Toyota Succeed.

The suspect reportedly fled after the incident.

Scenes of crime personnel from Starehe processed and documented the scene before the body was transferred to the City Mortuary, where it is awaiting further police action and autopsy.

It is not clear what had prompted the fight. Police said they were pursuing the suspect behind the murder.

And police in Rabai, Kilifi County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 34-year-old man whose body was found on the roadside.

The deceased, identified as Mwinyi Swaleh Kigunge, was discovered hours after another man was reportedly attacked and injured in the same area.

Police visited the scene and established that the survivor had allegedly been attacked by unknown assailants, who cut him on the back of the head using a sharp object.

He was rushed to Mariakani Hospital for treatment.

Police had received information that the body of a man had been found near the same area. Police believe Kigunge and his colleague had been together before the incident.

A bag containing books and clothes was also recovered at the scene.

The items were alleged to be associated with witchcraft, and investigators are examining whether this could have been a possible motive for the attack.

The alleged motive has not been independently established, police said Thursday amid investigations.

The scene was processed and documented, while Kigunge’s body was moved to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting an autopsy.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and assault and identify the perpetrators.
