Kenyan content creator Lydia Wanjiru has responded to a follower who questioned why she is now talking about the gym after previously criticising Diana Marua over comments on working out.
The exchange came after Lydia opened up about her weight-loss journey and cosmetic procedures, explaining that exercise had never given her the body results she wanted.

In a response shared on her Instagram Stories, Lydia told the follower not to judge another person’s choices, arguing that women go through different struggles with their bodies.
“Wacha kujam mamuu, kila mtu afanye vile anataka and one thing about me, I’ll never glorify labor nor question anyone’s choices. We all have our own struggles, especially us women with hormones,” she wrote.
Lydia then explained why she has previously turned to cosmetic procedures despite the growing emphasis on gym and dieting.
“And besides, if you know my story, you’d know gym has never worked out for me. I’ll go to maintain the body but not get one,” she added.
Her response comes after a long and very public transformation journey that began when she weighed 104kg. Lydia has previously said she lost about 34kg before undergoing procedures to address areas she felt could not be changed through exercise and diet alone.
Her weight-loss journey has not been straightforward.
Lydia has also been open about some of the difficulties that came with losing weight rapidly.
In March, she revealed that the process affected her hair and sleep, saying she experienced severe hair loss and periods of insomnia.
She later underwent liposuction, a tummy tuck and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), saying the procedures were part of dealing with loose skin and achieving the body shape she wanted.
The content creator has never presented surgery as the end of her fitness journey. In fact, she has repeatedly spoken about eventually returning to the gym to maintain her body.

Lydia's latest weight gain
More recently, Lydia revealed that her weight had increased from 78kg to 84kg following her second surgery.
She said she wanted to return to 75kg and planned to document the process rather than give followers the impression that maintaining a particular body shape requires no effort.
