Kenya is pushing for more value from tea to remain with farmers and within Africa. Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe says the country must move beyond exporting bulk tea and invest more in processing, branding and new markets. Speaking at the Africa Tea Convention in Nairobi, Kagwe said this would create more jobs and increase farmers’ earnings. He also called for stronger trade within Africa through the African Continental Free Trade Area.
