Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has thrown his support behind Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, saying he will back him regardless of the political party he chooses.

Amisi said Sifuna does not need to seek his support because he already has his vote “free of charge” wherever he goes.

The Saboti MP went on to describe Sifuna as his political project, saying he would campaign for him regardless of the party he joins.

“Sifuna, you don’t need to look for me; you have my vote free of charge wherever you are. Even when you go to any other party. I am the one who created you; you are my project; I will campaign for you wherever,” Amisi said.

The Saboti MP has on several occasions stated that he played a key role in kickstarting the Linda Mwananchi movement.

He rejected what he described as attempts by government bloggers to divide the opposition, insisting that the opposition must remain united ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Amisi met officials from the Linda Mwananchi movement led by the Nyandarua County Chairman. He said during the meeting they discussed what he termed misinformation targeting the opposition.

“We demystified information propagated by government bloggers that is keen on dividing the opposition,” Amisi said.

“We have refused that propaganda.”

On Sunday, Sifuna reiterated his intention to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, saying the political feedback he has received during his countrywide tours points to growing support for his presidential ambitions.

The senator told Nairobi residents that people from different parts of the country had been urging him to take up a bigger political role, in what appeared to be a fresh signal of his intention to seek the presidency.

“I want to tell Nairobi; other parts of the country want to give me another job. Do you know the job they want me to take?” Sifuna asked.

“People in other parts want to take me to a certain job. Do you also want me to take that job?”

However, the senator acknowledged that defeating Ruto would require a united opposition, calling for cooperation between him, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and other opposition leaders.

“It will not be easy. We must walk together with Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua and all other leaders in the opposition. Let us walk together,” Sifuna said.

The senator also thanked Nairobi residents for electing him to the Senate, saying the position had provided him with a platform to build a national political profile.
