Kenyan TikTok creator Judith, widely known as Mama Jimmy, has responded to claims that her family stopped attending church after moving to the United States.

Mama Jimmy and her American husband, Isaiah Carrier—popularly known as Baba Jimmy—relocated to the US in mid-2024 with their two children. The couple gained a large online following in Kenya through their family vlogs on TikTok.

Addressing Online Speculation

Following their relocation, online followers noticed a change in the family's content routine. Several fans left comments questioning whether the family had abandoned church services and mid-week prayer meetings.

Mama Jimmy addressed the rumours directly in a video posted to her TikTok account. She explained that she chose to clarify the situation after the comments became frequent.

"A lot of people have been asking since we moved to America we don’t attend church, we don’t pray. I saw it has become too much, so I decided let me come and answer them well,” she began.

'Time Is Money': A Shift in Daily Routines

Mama Jimmy emphasized that daily routines in America differ greatly from those in Kenya. She noted that the US lifestyle demands continuous work, with most people working five days a week.

"Life here is completely different. Here, finding people mid-week is hard, here they say time is money,” she explained.

In Kenya, church members often participate in mid-week fellowship meetings, visiting church leaders, or sharing meals during the day. Mama Jimmy explained that such social visits are impractical in the US due to work commitments.

“Here if you just stay a few weeks going to eat mandazi and giving suits to pastors, you will suffer."

Confirming Continued Church Attendance

Despite the changes in schedule, Mama Jimmy denied claims that her family stopped going to church. She confirmed that her family still participates in weekly worship services.

"We do normal church on Sunday, we have prayers on Wednesday starting from 7:00 to 7:30."

She also responded to queries regarding "kesha", which are overnight prayer vigils held on Friday nights in Kenya. Mama Jimmy pointed out that work fatigue makes overnight services difficult for many residents in the US.

"Here people are busy with life, they are chasing money, so it is hard to get tired again."

Balancing Work and Faith

Mama Jimmy advised her audience to refrain from comparing life in Kenya directly with life in America. She stated that her family remains committed to their faith while adapting to their new work schedule in the US.
