Filmmaker and studio mogul Tyler Perry has revealed he has no plans to ever get married, citing the severe financial fallout he has witnessed in high-profile divorces.

Speaking during a candid sit-down on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 57-year-old creator behind the iconic Why Did I Get Married ? film franchise caught host Jennifer Hudson off guard when asked about his personal romantic ambitions.
When asked if he envisioned walking down the aisle in the future, Perry offered a swift and direct response.

"Nope."

Protecting an Empire

Perry clarified that his hesitation has nothing to do with the concept of love or emotional commitment. Instead, his decision stems from observing the legal and financial destruction that frequently follows marital breakdowns among wealthy individuals.

"It's not the marriage that bothers me; it's the divorce," Perry explained.

"Everybody that I know that did well and went broke, it was because of a divorce. So I'm good just being free."

The media titan, who holds an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, built his fortune through absolute ownership of his creative output.
He controls his film library, television series, and a massive 330-acre production studio compound in Atlanta, Georgia.

Seeing Relationships in All Seasons

Despite writing and directing extensive storylines centered on marital conflict, infidelity, and reconciliation, Perry maintains that real-world relationships demand rigorous vetting.

"Before you marry someone, you need to see them in all four seasons," Perry noted. "When they're happy, mad, stable, broke, and hurt."

As one of the few self-made billionaires in the entertainment industry, Perry controls a massive, independent business empire.

Having built his empire from scratch after experiencing homelessness early in his career, Perry views legal marriage as an unnecessary risk to his autonomy and hard-earned wealth.

For now, the director remains content focusing on his sprawling production empire and creative projects, keeping his assets intact and his personal freedom secured.
