The government’s multi-agency team is developing water-harvesting strategies ahead of the predicted El Nino rains, Water CS Eric Mugaa says. Speaking during the 15th Mara Day celebrations in Bomet County, Mugaa said the ministry is also desilting dams across the country to safely manage flood waters and minimise their impact on downstream communities. He added that gauging stations have been installed in water catchment areas to monitor river flows and provide early warnings to residents living along rivers and downstream.
