UDA officials meeting/PCSThe United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has set October 3, 2026, for its Phase II ward-level grassroots elections, while waiving registration fees for candidates seeking to contest in the polls.
The party’s National Elections Board (NEB) said the elections will be conducted throughout the day in 13 counties as UDA continues with the process of strengthening its grassroots structures.
In an amended notice dated September 12, 2026, NEB chairman Anthony Mwaura said the elections will be held in Wajir, Marsabit, Isiolo, Kisii, Samburu, Nandi, Vihiga, Baringo, Nakuru, Mombasa, Embu, Meru and Tharaka Nithi.
“The National Elections Board hereby notifies all Grassroots Polling Centre Officials intending to contest for Ward-Level Positions and informs all Party Members, Leaders and Stakeholders that Phase II Ward Grassroots Elections shall be conducted on Saturday, 3rd October 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” Mwaura said.
The board also waived the registration fee for candidates intending to contest ward-level positions, revising an earlier communication that had provided for payment by aspirants.
Mwaura said the decision applies to all Grassroots Polling Centre Officials intending to contest in the Phase II Ward-Level Grassroots Elections.
“The National Elections Board hereby notifies all concerned parties that the registration fee for the Phase II Ward-Level Grassroots Elections has been waived,” he said.
Registration for candidates opened on Saturday, September 12, and will run until Sunday, September 27, at 5 pm.
The party said candidates’ verification will then be conducted on Monday, September 28, ahead of the elections the following weekend.
The registration process will be conducted through the UDA Ward Candidate Registration Portal, which the party has designated for officials seeking to contest for the ward-level positions.
Mwaura urged all polling centre officials intending to contest to take note of the timelines.
The waiver of the registration fee is expected to remove the financial requirement that had been attached to the registration process, allowing eligible polling centre officials to seek ward-level positions without paying the prescribed fee.
The Phase II elections form part of UDA’s wider grassroots electoral process, through which the party is seeking to establish and strengthen its structures at the ward level.
The exercise will cover 13 counties, with the National Elections Board setting out specific timelines for registration, verification and voting.
The board has also called on party members, leaders and other stakeholders in the affected counties to take note of the revised timelines and make the necessary preparations for the October 3 exercise.
The amended notice was signed by Mwaura in his capacity as chairman of the UDA National Elections Board and issued under reference UDA/3/NEB/GWL/26.
