Nominated Senator Catherine Mumma has called for the establishment of a dedicated department within the Ministry of Interior to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Speaking at the National Roundtable Forum on Ending the Triple Threat in Nairobi, Mumma said Kenya should move beyond reactive policing and establish coordinated, specialised units within security and law enforcement agencies. Her proposal aligns with Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen’s directive for all police stations to maintain functional gender desks to handle GBV cases professionally.
