A Burundi national selling towels in Nairobi has broken down while recounting an alleged robbery that he says left him without his money.

The man narrated his ordeal in an interview, explaining how what started as an ordinary day of selling towels allegedly ended with him losing the money he had worked hard to earn.
In the video, the visibly distressed vendor is seen holding a brown envelope as he speaks about the incident, appearing emotional as he explains what happened.

“They forced me to give them my PIN”

According to the vendor, he was approached while going about his business and was allegedly forced to surrender access to his phone.
“They forced me to give them my PIN,” he said.
After obtaining the PIN, the attackers allegedly accessed his mobile money and took the money available in his account.
The loss has reportedly left the vendor in a difficult position, considering that his towel business is his source of income.
For someone relying on daily sales to survive, losing his savings in such circumstances means he is now left with little to fall back on.

The vendor says his mother may sell land to help him.

The situation has also affected his family back home in Burundi.
The vendor revealed that after the alleged robbery, he contacted his mother for assistance. However, the help could come at a high cost for his family.
“I called my mother, and she is thinking of selling her land to support me,” he said.
The revelation added an emotional layer to his story, as the vendor appeared overwhelmed by the thought of his mother having to part with a valuable family asset because of his situation.
He appeals to President Ruto for help.
The vendor also used the interview to appeal to President William Ruto and other leaders, asking them to allow immigrants to establish themselves.
“I am asking the President and the leaders to give us immigrants one or two months to stabilize,” he said.
He explained that he and others like him were simply trying to make a living, but their circumstances made it difficult to feel secure.
His plea comes as he continues to deal with the financial consequences of the alleged robbery.

Video leaves Kenyans concerned.

The emotional video has since attracted attention online, with viewers expressing sympathy for the vendor and concern over what happened to him.
His story has also drawn attention to the difficulties faced by people who travel to other countries in search of opportunities and depend on informal businesses to survive.
For the Burundi national, however, the immediate concern remains recovering from the loss and finding a way to get back on his feet.
The vendor’s account of the robbery has not been independently verified, and details about the alleged attackers remain unclear.
For now, his emotional plea has left many viewers hoping that he can receive the assistance he needs after losing what he says was his source of livelihood.
