Andrew Kibe has confirmed that his planned boxing match against Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is still on, but Oga Obinna will no longer be involved in organising the bout.
Kibe made the revelation during an interview published on Friday, September 4, as he gave an update on preparations for the much-anticipated December showdown.
The former radio presenter said the contract for the fight is already on his phone and that arrangements are progressing under a different outfit.
“Obinna is out. I don’t want to work with him. Same idea, but different platform.”

Kibe Explains Why He Dropped Obinna
The fight had initially been linked to Obinna’s Vurugu 3 event, after Salasya challenged Kibe to a fight in the ring.

Kibe has now decided against taking part in the fight under Obinna’s platform.
He claimed the financial terms initially proposed were not attractive enough, arguing that the contest could generate more money if handled through another platform.
“There’s a lot of money to be made in that shit. Why would I go give my whole birthright to Obinna?”
Kibe also said the new arrangement could involve an escrow system as the parties work out the financial details.
Kibe Had Previously Raised Trust Issues
The latest development follows earlier concerns Kibe had expressed about working with Obinna.
In July, Kibe said he had received communication from one of Obinna’s managers indicating that the fight was moving forward. However, he questioned whether the organiser could deliver the event.
“I don’t know if I can trust Obinna to see this thing through.”
At the time, Kibe had not completely ruled out working with Obinna, saying the financial benefits would be an important consideration.
The situation has now changed, with Kibe confirming that he wants the fight staged independently of Obinna.
December Fight Still On
Despite the change in promoter, Kibe insists that his clash with Salasya has not been cancelled.
“In December, I’m going to be getting into a boxing ring with Salasya.”
The 50-year-old said he plans to begin serious training and will work with Barak Jaccuzi and Jaccuzi’s trainer ahead of the bout.
Kibe also dismissed concerns about his age, saying he does not feel 50. He believes his reach could give him an advantage against Salasya.
Obinna Had Pushed for the Fight
Obinna had previously been central to efforts to make the fight happen.
After Salasya issued the challenge, the entertainer offered to organise the bout under Vurugu 3 and called on Kibe to accept.
Salasya later asked Obinna to arrange a live contract-signing ceremony, with the proposed fight expected to take place in December.
Obinna also shared messages showing his efforts to secure the fighters for the event and urged Kibe to sign his contract.
