A court order has halted the planned burial of late Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy, whose real name is Edgar Odhiambo Ochieng, following an intense family row over his final resting place.
The development came on Friday, September 4, as the family remained divided between Siaya and Nyandarua.

The legal intervention came after his paternal and maternal relatives deadlocked on where to lay the musician to rest. His father, George William Ochieng Awili, insisted that the singer explicitly stated his desire to be buried in his ancestral home.

The artist's father maintained that both parents initially agreed to bury the hitmaker in Alego, Siaya County. However, a faction of maternal relatives pushed for Nyandarua County, where the musician's mother resides.
The disagreement has complicated funeral arrangements, with the rapper's remains reportedly still at Chiromo Mortuary as the two sides seek a resolution.

The hitmaker behind G Baga Jat passed away on 27 August 2026, leaving behind two young children. His passing sparked widespread social media debate surrounding mental health and financial struggles among young Kenyan creatives.
Stoopid Boy's father intervened publicly to clear the presenter's name. He stated that his son battled long-term depression before meeting Obinna and urged the public to cease online harassment.

Stoopid Boy's mother also appealed for calm between the warring family factions. She echoed the call to defend Obinna, stating the presenter offered genuine support during her son's recovery journey.
Court intervention
Attempts to resolve the disagreement outside court had reportedly failed to produce an agreement.
Earlier discussions also involved relatives going to Embakasi Police Station as the family tried to settle the issue.
The latest court order has now stopped the burial as the dispute over Stoopid Boy's final resting place is addressed.
The disagreement has also affected funeral fundraising.
Stoopid Boy's family and supporters are therefore waiting for a resolution that will allow the late musician to receive his final send-off.
The rapper's death had already prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artistes. The ongoing dispute has now shifted attention to his family's struggle to agree on where he should make his final journey.
