The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has begun an induction programme for 136 newly recruited secretariat staff as part of efforts to prepare them for their roles in the public service.
The week-long training is being conducted in collaboration with the Kenya School of Government (KSG) at its Lower Kabete campus, in Nairobi bringing together senior officers recruited competitively earlier this year.
The cohort comprises Assistant Directors, Principal Teacher Management Officers from the teaching service and Senior Management Officers.
The induction is aimed at equipping the new officers with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to effectively discharge their responsibilities within the Commission and the wider public service.
TSC Acting CEO Evaleen Mitei, MBS, graced the third day of the training and congratulated the officers on their successful recruitment.
Mitei said the induction was an important step in preparing the new employees for their responsibilities and ensuring they understand the expectations that come with serving in the public sector.
“The main purpose of this programme is to prepare you for your new roles,” Mitei told the officers.
She encouraged the new recruits to embrace the training and use the opportunity to understand the values, systems and standards that guide public service.
The Acting CEO also underscored the importance of professionalism and commitment as the officers begin their careers in the Commission.
The training provides the new staff with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with public service structures, institutional mandates and the responsibilities attached to their respective positions.
The collaboration between TSC and KSG is also intended to strengthen capacity among the newly appointed officers and support effective service delivery.
Mitei warmly congratulated the cohort, urging them to approach their new responsibilities with dedication and a strong sense of service.
The induction comes as TSC continues to strengthen its secretariat workforce and enhance institutional capacity to support the management of Kenya’s teaching service.
The newly recruited officers are expected to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the programme in their respective areas of responsibility once they complete the induction.
