President William Ruto has urged farmers to take advantage of the expected short rains and plant more maize after last season's crop failures caused by inadequate rainfall. Speaking in Narok North, Ruto announced a 50 per cent cut in maize seed prices from September, with a 1Kg bag reducing from Sh300 to Sh150. He added that fertiliser prices will also fall by Sh500, from Sh2,500 to Sh2,000, measures aimed at boosting food production and strengthening food security.
