Trade unions are raising concerns over declining employment as artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies rapidly transform workplaces. COTU says the trend is particularly evident in factories and facilities where AI has been fully implemented, increasing fears of job losses. Speaking at a trade union workshop on AI governance in Nairobi, COTU Assistant Secretary General for Administration Adams Barasa dismissed claims that unions oppose AI adoption, saying they support a worker-centred AI policy that protects jobs.
