Kenyan TikToker Sheryl Gabriella has opened up about a difficult financial period that forced her to rethink her lifestyle after losing five brand contracts in March 2026.
Sheryl shared the details during a candid TikTok Live on August 21, explaining how her year began on a high before her income took an unexpected turn.
Five deals collapsed
According to Sheryl, she had secured five brand contracts at the beginning of the year, with each deal paying more than KSh100,000 per month.
One of the contracts was reportedly worth KSh350,000.
However, she said all five deals collapsed within the same period in March, leaving her to deal with a significant drop in income.
“2026 has been hard for me. The beginning of 2026, everything was so good. Everything was so perfect.”
The sudden change forced Sheryl to reassess how she was spending money and managing her commitments.

From KSh200,000 bills to a smaller house
Sheryl revealed that her monthly expenses had reached approximately KSh200,000, a figure that became difficult to sustain after her brand income declined.
Rather than maintaining the lifestyle she had become accustomed to, the content creator said she made the decision to move into a smaller house.
The move became one of the ways she tried to reduce her financial pressure and remain afloat while navigating the loss of her contracts.
Her experience also offered a glimpse into the less visible financial pressures that can come with being a digital creator, where income can depend heavily on brand partnerships.

“Imekuwa ngumu”
Speaking candidly about the period, Sheryl acknowledged that the experience had not been easy.
Her story comes at a time when Kenyan influencers and content creators increasingly rely on commercial partnerships as a major source of income.
Unlike traditional employment, however, brand deals can be temporary and may not provide creators with a predictable monthly income.
For Sheryl, losing five contracts at once meant having to make significant changes to her lifestyle.
She did not disclose the reasons why the individual contracts ended or whether she has since secured new deals.
A reality check for creators
Sheryl's experience highlights the financial uncertainty that can exist behind the polished lifestyles often presented on social media.
While creators may appear to be earning consistently from brand campaigns, their income can change quickly when contracts end or campaigns are cancelled.
For Sheryl, downsizing her home was part of adapting to that reality.
Her decision shows that financial adjustments can sometimes mean letting go of a lifestyle in order to protect long-term stability.
