Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has called for a stronger partnership between the government and the church.
The Prime CS said faith-based organisations remain critical in promoting peace, moral leadership and national development.
Mudavadi said strong nations are built not only by institutions, but by the values that hold their people together.
He was speaking when he hosted the Head of the Anglican Church in Kenya, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
“My engagement with Archbishop Ole Sapit was largely on peace, national unity, social cohesion and other matters of importance to our nation and its citizens.” said Mudavadi.
“Faith leaders remain powerful voices for dialogue, service and moral leadership. When Government and the Church engage constructively, we strengthen communities, bridge differences and keep Kenya united around the common good."
Mudavadi has, in the recent past, also engaged with the Catholic Bishops, where he reaffirmed the government's commitment to working closely with faith-based organisations, saying they are key partners in advancing democratic values and national development.
“Peace, stability and national cohesion are economic assets. They give investors’ confidence, protect livelihoods and allow businesses, communities and families to plan for the future.” Mudavadi said in his previous engagements
He has also been on record that Kenya's Foreign Policy recognises religious organisations as important actors in diplomacy, noting that the country has strengthened ties with the Vatican by establishing a resident mission to the Holy See.
