Zambia Police have responded to social-media claims surrounding the sudden death of 25-year-old model and content creator Lisa Mutalu.

Mutalu died in Lusaka in the early hours of Thursday, August 20, 2026, after spending her final evening with two female friends.
Her death quickly triggered speculation online, including allegations that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend before she died. Police have now said their preliminary examination found no physical injuries on her body.

According to the police account, investigators examined the locations connected to her movements that night, including the hotel where she had spent the evening and another social spot.
Police said Mutalu was later taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“No physical injuries were observed on the body,” police said in their preliminary findings.
The statement directly challenged the assault claims circulating online.

Her Final Hours

According to the police account, Mutalu spent the evening of Wednesday, August 19, at a Lusaka hotel where she worked as a brand ambassador, accompanied by two female friends.
Around 10:30 pm, the three women moved on to another social venue in the city.
In the early hours of Thursday, between 2:30 am and 3 am, her boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, collected the three from the second location.
He dropped the two friends at their respective destinations before driving Mutalu to their shared home in the Kalundu area of Lusaka.
Once they arrived, Mutalu allegedly began vomiting heavily and eventually lost consciousness.
Her boyfriend is said to have reached out to a friend, and the two rushed her to Victoria Hospital.
She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Body Taken for Postmortem

Mutalu's remains were transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for further examination.
The postmortem is expected to provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding her death.
The police investigation therefore remains ongoing, despite the preliminary finding that no external physical injuries were observed.
