Editors have been urged to play a key role in supporting journalists’ mental well-being, especially when covering traumatic assignments. Psychologist and Counsellor Ruth Wangui has encouraged journalists to also learn the art of sharing difficult experiences with trusted colleagues and seek therapy from professional counsellors. She also called for regular debriefing before, during and after challenging assignments to help journalists cope with the emotional impact of their work.
