National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has condoled with Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale following the death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale.
Wetang’ula visited the Khalwale family at their home in Malinya, Ikolomani, where he conveyed his condolences and those of Parliament following the death of Gloria.
“The loss of a loved one, particularly a spouse and mother to young ones, is a painful life encounter,” Wetang’ula said.
He said he visited the family on his own behalf, that of his family and Parliament of Kenya to stand with Khalwale and his children during the period of mourning.
“On my own behalf, on behalf of my family, and on behalf of the Parliament of Kenya, I have today condoled with the family of my brother and friend of many years, the Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, at his home in Malinya, Ikolomani, following the passing of his dear wife, Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” he said.
Wetang’ula also conveyed President William Ruto’s condolences and message of support to the family.
“During the visit, I conveyed President William Ruto’s condolences and his gesture of goodwill and comfort to the family during this difficult time,” he said.
He described Gloria as a kind and hospitable woman who warmly welcomed guests whenever Khalwale hosted them at the family home.
“Mama Gloria was a kind and hospitable lady who always welcomed us whenever Senator Khalwale hosted us at home,” Wetang’ula said.
Gloria died on August 15 after she reportedly suddenly collapsed following a heart attack.
Khalwale announced her death, describing her as his beloved wife and the mother of his eight children.
Wetang’ula urged Kenyans to stand with bereaved families through words of comfort, acts of kindness, solidarity and prayer.
“In moments of loss, we are reminded to offer comfort through both words and acts of kindness, and to stand with those in mourning in solidarity and prayer,” he said.
He concluded his message by praying for the soul of the late Gloria.
“May Mama Gloria’s Soul Rest in Eternal Peace,” Wetang’ula said.
