The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has ordered aspirants and political actors using its logo on campaign materials to remove the offending materials within five days or face action.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon said the Commission had noted the unauthorised use of its logo on campaign materials, describing the practice as irregular and unlawful.
Ethekon warned that the use of the logo could falsely suggest that the Commission supports or endorses particular candidates or political actors, compromising its independence, impartiality and non-partisan status.
“The Commission has noted the unauthorized use of its logo on campaign materials. Such use is irregular and unlawful and may falsely imply Commission endorsement,” Ethekon said.
He directed all aspirants and political actors involved to immediately stop using the logo and remove the materials within five days.
“Failing which appropriate action will be taken,” he warned.
At the same time, Ethekon said the Commission had begun procuring materials for the 2027 General Election after receiving a budget allocation in the 2026/2027 financial year.
However, the procurement of election technology and ballot papers has been temporarily halted following a request for review filed before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.
The IEBC chairperson said procurement of several other strategic and non-strategic election materials was ongoing and was expected to be completed in good time ahead of the 2027 General Election.
