Police in Vihiga have opened investigations into the death of a 42-year-old woman whose body was found in a banana plantation in Luanda Sub-County.
The woman, identified as Dorcus Anditi Sefule, was found lying in a farm at Eluama Village, Ebukhubi Sub-location, Ebulonga Location, on Monday.
Locals reported the discovery, prompting police officers to visit the scene.
Police said Sefule’s body was found lying on her back in the banana plantation. A preliminary examination indicated that she had multiple injuries and bruises.
Investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Coptic Mortuary for preservation.
A post-mortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death as detectives continue examining the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
In a separate incident, police in Vihiga are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man whose body was found near a swamp in Mwinaya area, Luanda Sub-County.
The man, identified as Martin Amukoa, was found in Mwinaya Village, Itumbu Sub-location.
The discovery was reported at about 9:59 am by Charles Amuli, a village elder.
Police officers who visited the scene found Amukoa’s body lying face down near the swamp.
Police said blood was coming from the man’s nose and mouth. A preliminary examination indicated injuries to his forehead.
Investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Coptic Mortuary for preservation.
A post-mortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death as detectives continue examining circumstances surrounding Amukoa’s death.
Meanwhile, police in Kwale have recovered human remains believed to belong to a 39-year-old man who went missing about two weeks ago.
The remains were discovered on Monday morning in a forested area in Kasemeni Sub-location, Mwereni Location, Lungalunga Sub-County.
Police said locals reported the discovery, prompting officers to visit the scene.
Police found a human skull and, after searching the surrounding area, recovered several bones, tattered clothes, a pair of shoes and a belt.
Residents from neighbouring villages identified the remains as those of Nyanje Ruwa Nyanje, a 39-year-old man who lived in Mwakalanga Village and had reportedly gone missing on August 3.
Police said his brother-in-law was among those who identified the remains.
Police said the skull had a deep cut wound on the scalp, and investigators are examining whether the injury could be linked to the circumstances of his death.
Investigators are also examining the possibility that wild animals may have fed on the body, leaving skeletal remains scattered around the area.
The scene was photographed and processed before the remains were collected and taken to Coast General Hospital for preservation, detailed autopsy and further sampling.
