Kenyan TikToker Sheryl Gabriella has responded to online questions about her late father's home after footage from his burial showed a grass-thatched structure in the background.

Sheryl shared the burial video on August 17, 2026, showing family members and mourners gathered to bid farewell to her father, Joseph Kipkoech Mutai.

Mutai was born in 1973 and died on August 8, 2026.

While the video captured a sombre family moment, some online users focused on the home visible behind the mourners.

Questions Over Her Previous Claims

The discussion was linked to Sheryl's earlier social-media posts about her finances.

The TikToker has previously spoken publicly about her earnings and lifestyle. She also claimed that she had built a house for her parents.

Sheryl did not ignore the comments.

Responding to a question about the house she had said she built for her parent, the TikToker appeared to clarify that the home was built for the parent who raised her.

“Nilijengea mzazi alinilea.”
Translated into English, the statement means: “I built [a house] for the parent who raised me.”

Her response appeared to draw a distinction between the parent she had referred to in her earlier claims and the home visible in the burial footage.

The burial footage attracted a range of reactions from social-media users.

Some questioned the apparent contrast between Sheryl's previous statements about her financial success and the setting shown in the video.
